- “Spatika” , meaning crystal or alum in Ayurveda, has 2 main uses: Sphatika Bhasma (alum ash) for medicinal treatments like stopping bleeding, skin issues, and respiratory problems, and Sphatik Mala (crystal quartz rosary) for spiritual purposes, meditation, and healing. Both leverage alum’s astringent/antiseptic properties or quartz’s calming energy for ailments, purification, and spiritual focus, ranging from controlling menorrhagia (heavy periods) to improving concentration.
